This service pack for the Change Guardian for Group Policy product improves usability and resolves several previous issues. Many of these improvements were made in direct response to suggestions from our customers. We thank you for your time and valuable input. We hope you continue to help us ensure our products meet all your needs. This document outlines why you should install this service pack, provides information about installing the service pack, and identifies known issues. Why Install This Service Pack?Change Guardian for Group Policy evaluates group policy changes in real time and identifies changes as managed, unmanaged, or high-profile. If the change is unmanaged or high-profile, the product notifies you immediately so you can assess the incident. The product also saves information about group policy changes in a secure location, making it available for reports. With real-time detection and notification capabilities, Change Guardian for Group Policy enables you to identify and address unmanaged changes and other issues in a timely manner. The following sections outline the key features and functions provided by this version, as well as issues resolved in this release. Removes the Requirement for User Credentials for Monitored DomainsThis service pack resolves an issue with user permissions. Before you apply this service pack, to connect to the Change Guardian Service, the Security Manager agent needs a valid, enabled user account for the specified domain. After you apply this service pack, you no longer need an enabled user account for monitored domains. (ENG279122) Resolves a Performance Issue on Some Domain Controllers after Installing the AgentThis service pack resolves an issue where the Change Guardian agent can consume a large amount of memory on some domain controllers after installation, resulting in performance issues. After you install this service pack, you can deploy the Change Guardian agent to domain controllers without experiencing performance issues. Upgrading to the Service Pack Can Disable Some AlertsUpgrading from Change Guardian for Group Policy 3.5 can cause some events with the alert severity of ERROR to be disabled. For information about enabling these alerts, see the Knowledge Base article NETIQKB72320. (ENG289196) Upgrading to the Service Pack Can Result in Duplicated Domain NodesIf you upgrade from Change Guardian for Group Policy 3.0, the Monitored Domains node appears twice in the CGGP Configuration Group. Please contact Technical Support for assistance. (DOC283429) Event Times Do Not Match Corresponding Alert TimesChange Guardian for Group Policy accurately captures events and their corresponding alerts, but a one-hour discrepancy exists between an event time and the corresponding alert time.
