  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (64-bit)
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise (64-bit)

  • Windows Web Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)
  • Windows 7 Professional (32-bit and 64-bit)
  • Windows 7 Enterprise (32-bit and 64-bit)

Note

Installing This Service Pack

This service pack provides a new version of the Windows agent. You must install the service pack directly on the local Windows agent computer or include the Standalone Deployment Wizard when you install on a computer from which you want to deploy agents to remote Windows computers.

The installation kit provides a setup program with two options for installing the service pack: Basic and Custom. Basic Installation installs all agent components. However, you cannot use the computer to deploy agents to remote computers. You must also manually register the agent in the Secure Configuration Manager console. Choose Basic Installation if you do not plan to deploy agents from the computer or if you cannot remotely deploy to the computer.

Use the Custom Installation option for computers from which you want to deploy the agent to remote computers. Also choose Custom Installation if you want to install specific Windows agent components.

If you want to use the command line to perform a silent installation, use the SecurityAgentForWindows.msi file included in the installation kit.

Warning
If you use the SecurityAgentForWindows.msi file to install the Windows agent on a computer, you must continue to use the .msi installation option for future agent installations and all updates on that computer.

Notes

  • Before installing this service pack, ensure Secure Configuration Manager hotfix 72321 has been installed on the Core Services computer. Core Services cannot automatically register the new agents and endpoints without the hotfix installed.
  • This service pack does not install these release notes or the NetIQ Security Agent for Windows Installation and Configuration Guide included in the installation kit. If you want to maintain the latest documentation on the console computer, copy the files to the C:\Program Files\NetIQ\Secure Configuration Manager\Documentation folder.
  • If you want to locally install the Windows agent on a computer running Windows Server 2008 Core or Windows Server 2008 R2 Core editions, contact Technical Support.
  • You can deploy agents to 64-bit computers only from a 64-bit computer. Similarly, you can only deploy to 32-bit computers from a 32-bit computer.

For instructions on installing and deploying the Windows agent, see the NetIQ Security Agent for Windows Installation and Configuration Guide included in the installation kit.
