NetIQ AppManager Connector for Tivoli Enterprise (the Connector) is a set of software components that allows Tivoli users to view AppManager events side-by-side with their Tivoli events.

This release improves usability and resolves previous issues. Many of these improvements were made in direct response to suggestions from our customers. We thank you for your time and valuable input. We hope you continue to help us ensure our products meet all your needs. What's New?

This release resolves the following issue:

  • Installing the Tivoli connector causes the management server to stop working. This release resolves an issue in which an AppManager 8.x management server stopped working after you installed and started the Tivoli connector. With this release, the Connector no longer causes the AppManager management server to stop unexpectedly upon startup. However, if you use SQL authentication on an AppManager 8.x management server to communicate with the AppManager repository (QDB), and you select SQL authentication in the Tivoli configuration wizard, the Connector will not attempt to connect to the QDB to query for Knowledge Script Groups. As a result, the Knowledge Script Group name and ID do not display in events forwarded to Tivoli by the Connector. (ENG324634)

System Requirements

For the most recently updated list of supported application versions, see the AppManager Supported Products page. Unless noted otherwise, this module supports all updates, hotfixes, and service packs for the releases listed below.

The Connector has the following system requirements:

  • AppManager version 7.x or later installed on the management server and AppManager repository
  • One of the following Tivoli products:
    • Tivoli Enterprise Console (TEC) version 3.9 or later (does not allow synchronization of event status)
    • Tivoli Management Framework version 4.1.1 or later

Previous Releases

This release of the Connector includes enhancements added in previous releases.

Version 7.0.33.0, Hotfix 71477, February 2009

This release resolved the following issue:

  • ksg_id field not created in .baroc file. Before you install this release, the .baroc file created by the Connector installer (NQConnector.exe) does not describe the ksg_id field (the Knowledge Script Group identifier field) that is contained in events forwarded to Tivoli. Tivoli uses the .baroc file to recognize the fields in events forwarded to the Tivoli console. After you install this release, NQConnector.exe creates a .baroc file that contains the ksg_id field, allowing Tivoli to recognize and parse all fields in forwarded events. (ENG260860)

Hotfix 71441, January 2009

This release resolved the following issue:

  • Blank fields in AppManager events forwarded to Tivoli. Before you install this release, the Connector leaves some fields blank in the AppManager events it forwards to Tivoli. The Connector is unable to properly read and set the AppManager event severity mappings while reading the registry on the NetIQ management server. The following fields are affected: Severity, Sub-Source, and Message. After you install this release, a change in the way the Connector reads the registry enables the Connector to read the values for the affected fields, and then populate the fields in the events it forwards to Tivoli.
